Sophomore Lexi Clark has stepped up her game since her 2011-2012 season. This year there were six golfers returning and all of them were underdogs. Clark started playing golf when she was 10 years old with her friend in the junior league.
“I wanted to play in high school because my dad played in high school, and I wanted to follow in his footsteps,” Clark said.
With her strong sense of humor, she keeps the teammate’s heads up and always makes them happy. Clark thinks it is a fun sport and being good at it helps it not be boring.
“She is our strongest golfer, even if she wasn’t playing her best. She carried the team on her back,” Taylor said.
Individually, clark placed 5th at Dodge City regionals and 33rd in state at Rolling Hills Country Club. Overall the team placed 11th at state.
“She did pretty good. She practiced a lot and deserved to place in a lot of tournaments because she worked hard,” sophomore Kaela Schneider said.
For the future, she plans on going to WSU or Fort Hays for golf.
