Boys basketball season ends in Garden City

The boys basketball season came to a tragic close in Garden City on Wednesday, March 5 when they were met with a 43-46 defeat against the Buffaloes.

The Grizzlies fell behind in the first half, facing a double-digit point deficit. A resurgence of aggressive defensive in the second half, however, allowed them to combat their shortage of scoring.

Only a couple minutes remained in the fourth quarter and Northwest was down by five. Senior Kaleb Cobb managed to sink a deep 3-pointer, bringing the score to 43-45.

Cobb’s basket was followed by a Northwest foul, sending Garden City to the free-throw line where one free throw was made.

Northwest was unable to score as the remaining 19.5 seconds on the clock expired. Seniors Cortez Carr and Cobb led the team with 12 points each.

The Grizzlies finished the season with an overall record of 5-16.
