I know what you’re thinking, a sophomore Running with the best of the best seniors?!?! Yes Liam Fredin(10) is your average kid when it comes to school, good grades and a lot of friends. But when schools are out, he laces up his shoes and runs as fast as the wind.
This year was his second year running cross country for Northwest High School and boy did he perform. With running in the low 17 min area he was the second fastest runner on the team right behind Ejay Edwards(11).
While Liam runs cross country he also does pole vaulting in the spring for track. He’s our only pole vaulting athlete and last year he won several competitions and even went to state and vaulted against juniors and seniors. “It’s not so much that i like to challenge myself, it’s more that I am capable of both and I know I can compete, my only struggle is getting past my limit but hey i’ll get it and yall will be watching” says Liam Fredin(10).
After finishing his season at regionals, he placed 26th with a time of 18:09.27, not his Pr but still a pretty fast race. Overall Liam Fredin(10) is a very competitive player in all his sports and it’s just the beginning, so keep your eye out for Liam Fredin(10) when he’s flying through the air or running past you cause who knows that might be your next Northwest Grizzly champion.
