In high school there is a class called JROTC which is a military prep class basically.
There are two uniforms several shoes, and it shows students what could expect if they
go into the real ROTC. The students here have fun with all the activities they get to do for it. Sophomore Hope Wirt describes what it is like to be a member.
When did you decide to join JROTC?
That came across last year, second semester.

When did you decide to join JROTC?
That came across last year, second semester.
Why did you decide you wanted to join JROTC?
Because one of my friends told me about it and convinced me to join, and I’m happy she
did.
I’ve heard there’s drill and raiders, are you in them as well?
Yes, I am.
How often do you practice for drill Raiders or and JROTC?
So drill practice is every morning, and Raiders practice is every day after school.
What is your favorite part of JROTC?
Honestly, just being with what people in JROTC and like doing the stuff together as a
team.
Do you have a least favorite part of JROTC?
I do not.
Do you have the class with anybody you know? And if so who?
Well, yeah, there’s Tallen, Evan, Finn, and Maddie.
I know there’s two uniforms do you prefer one of them more?
Yes, I prefer the OCP uniform over the class a uniform.
Are there any things you don’t like about the uniforms that you have to wear?
No, but the shoes are hard to get tight.
Okay. What does JROTC stand for?
Our JROTC stand for junior reserves officer training corp.
Is JROTC difficult to be a part of for you?
No, I find that pretty fun.
Would you recommend it to other students or, like, incoming freshmen?
Oh, yeah, for sure, without a doubt.
Oh, yeah, for sure, without a doubt.
Can I get a reason why?
Because it’s just a good extra class to have, just for, like, extra activities to do, and it’s
easy.
Do you plan to go into job with JROTC or anything like that?
Um, I’m thinking about it maybe.
What jobs do JROTC open up for you guys?
Mainly military jobs, that kind of stuff.
Will you stay in JROTC for all of high school?
Yes, I will.
Is there any other information you would like to tell me about JROTC?
All I have to say is that you anybody should just give it a shot, and if you don’t like
it, then that’s okay. And there’s a lot of stuff that anybody can do.
